Fair season is officially upon us and as my family plans to head to the fair this week, I’m reminded with all the items I must take for the kids like:

1. Jackets – Unless you have s lot of money to spend, a jacket is almost essential for any little one when you’re planning on staying out late. With cool summer nights, you’ll be glad you packed jackets, just be sure to store them in a stroller or somewhere you can easily get access to them.
2. Blankets, binkies and other nighttime essentials – if you’re planning on staying late at a fair, that usually means your child or children will end up falling asleep at some point or another during the fair. Pack all of their nighttime essentials and favorite bedtime items (maybe even pjs) so your child can sleep and you can continue to enjoy the fair.
3. Strollers – Because walking around can be a lot on a little one, always bring a stroller. (and if you have more than one little one, I personally recommend this one) Bringing a stroller can also serve other purposes like; storing drinks, freebies, snacks, jackets and even a bed if your child falls asleep.
4. Snacks – If you have a picky eater, you’re child may not eat fair foods. My oldest son is a very picky eater, so I always pack him some kind of snack so he can eat while we’re at the fair. I also recommend extra snacks for keeping the children entertained during events and shows when they get antsy – just try to keep a variety of options.
5. Drinks – since most fair drinks aren’t kid-friendly, I personally recommend bringing in your own child friendly drinks or sippy cups.
6. Diapers, wipes and change of clothes -If you’ve got children in diapers, always bring a stack full of diapers and a change of clothes. For older children who are learning potty training, I recommend packing at least 1-2 changes of clothes, especially since some fair bathrooms can be intimidating to little ones and they may not want to use their toilets.
So, that’s what my family packs before heading to the fair, what are some of the essentials your family packs?
