Why You Should Delete Friends From Facebook in 2021

Last year, during the pandemic, I took time to grow. And I grew closer in my relationship with God.

As I found myself getting closer to God, I realized one alarming thing, every time I would log into my Facebook account – it made me bitter.

I was having hateful thoughts, I was stressing more and my relationship with God was in jeopardy. Then one day it hit me. If having a family member or friend on Facebook was causing me to feel bitter feelings and hate, I needed to delete them from my Facebook, no hard feelings intended.

While I know many people worry about deleting friends and family from Facebook without them knowing, but honestly, I had to be very truthful in my reasons for deleting those people even if it meant someone may get upset with me.

In the end, I feel it’s better to make a few friends upset, rather than feel bitter, hateful feelings towards those people.

Even though I know most people want to stay up-to-date with certain people, I realized most of the people I deleted from my friends list weren’t close friends. And, in the end, there’s absolutely no reason why I need to keep toxic friends on Facebook and in real life.

After all, Mark 9:47 says;

And if your eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into hell.

While you may not agree with deleting your friends and family from Facebook, I personally feel like it has allowed me to view people for who they are rather than hate them for what they are posting on Facebook.

At the end of the day, my goal is heaven and I feel this small adjustment has helped me to get one step closer. What’s your thoughts?
