All three of my kids were born in April. It’s such a busy month for us that by the time the last birthday rolls around, we’re usually all ready for it just to be over. Unfortunately, that last birthday of the month is my youngest and my sweet daughter’s birthday. She’s still young, so she’s not at the point where she really cares about her birthday other than the fact that she gets gifts, but since this year she was turning 5, I knew this year’s birthday had to be a really special one.

Whether you’re celebrating your daughter’s or niece’s 5th birthday, these simple ideas will help you make their 5th birthday extra special and memorable.

How to Make Your Daughter's 5th Birthday Special

Making Your Daughter’s 5th Birthday Special

Have a Family Slumber Party Together!

Kids tend to get really excited about their birthday, that’s why their birthdays should be as big of a deal to you as it is for them. I suggest starting your child’s 5th birthday out the night before by having a fun slumber party together as a family.

Slumber parties as a family can be especially fun because kids get to stay up late and you all get to eat whatever you want. During the slumber party, let your daughter pick what you do and be sure to let her do most of the talking. Make the slumber party even better by choosing a fun bedtime story that she’ll love. For Zoey’s slumber party, I choose to read her some of the American Girl book, “Willa’s Wilderness Campout” by Valerie Tripp.

Willa’s Wilderness Campout” was literally the perfect choice for our family slumber party. The story, which is about a campout catastrophe that is saved by friends, teaches your daughter the importance of friendship in a way she’ll understand.

Our family had such a fun time celebrating Zoey’s fifth birthday with a family slumber party and I bet your daughter will too!

Get Her a Gift She’ll Cherish Forever

Little girls love to carry their favorite toys around with them. That’s why for my daughter’s fifth birthday I wanted to get her a toy that she would cherish forever.

While I wasn’t sure what that gift would be, at first, I started thinking back to our vacation to Orlando, in February. During our time there, we took Zoey into an American Girl store and she fell in love with all the dolls. Although we weren’t able to buy her a doll on that trip, I knew that for her fifth birthday an American Girl Doll would be a gift she would cherish forever.

After getting on American Girl’s website, I knew picking out the ‘perfect’ doll wouldn’t be easy. With all the dolls American Girl offers, I wanted one that would be perfect for my Zoey and kind of looked like her.

That’s when I came across American Girl’s WellieWishers line of dolls.  Each WellieWishers doll is designed for children ages 5 to 7 and are available in five fun-loving characters that your daughter will love – Willa, Kendall, Ashlyn, Emerson, and Camille.

How to Make Your Daughter's 5th Birthday Special with WellieWishers Willa

Since Zoey has a love for animals, I decided to get Zoey the Willa WellieWishers doll because she reminded me the most of my Zoey. Willa loves animals and she is often the first one to climb a tree. Much like Zoey, who never gives up an opportunity to hold a cuddly animal, Willa was perfect for her. She even wears a hedgehog shirt and ladybug rain boots and dresses so much like Zoey.

With the WellieWishers doll smaller size, she fits perfectly into Zoey’s small hands and is her new best friend. Zoey takes Willa everywhere with her and she loves using the WellieWishers Cookie Baking Set to bake with Willa.

In the weeks that since Zoey got Willa, I can already tell this doll will the be that one toy that she’ll look back on and cherish forever. If you’re looking for a special gift to make your 5 year old’s birthday special, I highly recommend looking into a WellieWishers Doll – your daughter can even watch WellieWishers show with her on Amazon Prime.

Bake Her Birthday Cake Together

While you can easily buy her a birthday cake at any store, letting her help you bake her birthday cake will be a memory that will stick with her forever. Chances are, now that she’s five, she’s already been asking to help you with chores around the house and she is finally big enough to start helping you bake.

Let her help pour measurements and stir the cake batter. While you’re waiting for the cake to finish baking, let her and Willa pretend to bake using the WellieWishers Cookie Baking Set. This 25-piece set comes with everything the WellieWishers dolls need to make tasty treats and your daughter will love pretending to decorate cookies and dressing Willa up with the pretend baker’s hat.

When it comes to your daughter’s fifth birthday, I hope these ideas help you make it special for her.

Awww, your daughter looks so happy with her new doll! I like that the doll has a life-like figure and is not the usual skinny type that were on the market when I was a child. It’s nice that you baked the cake together with your daughter 🙂

My daughter is five and just now starting to get into the american doll series. I haven’t really been much of fan because there wasn’t much diversity in the dolls, but we’ve managed to find a few that she really likes.

I really love the idea of having a family slumber party when my daughter was five and making tents and the like. We did a tea party around the time and she loved it.
