All three of my kids started school this week and it was hard. As I was sitting on the laundry floor, bawling my eyes out, something went through my head and I immediately thought of God. Could you imagine, how much God must hurt whenever we leave Him?

God loves us more than anyone could ever love us, but instead of always showing Him that love back, we forget about Him. We spend all of our time working, or hanging out with friends, that we begin to love our lives more than we love Him. We spend all of our time living for ourselves, that we don’t realize how much we need Him until something goes wrong. Thankfully, God is so forgiving. He tells us to come to him and He will give us rest.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest(Matthew 11:28)

I’m so happy that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever (Hebrews 13:8) and that’s why I want to be sure my kids know Him. When the news plays another violent scene, or a kid tries to be a bully, kids need to know they always have someone who will be there for them. That’s why I am so excited to share with you all a new Bible story that helps kids learn about God from Dorris Rikkers, The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible.

My Review

The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible by Doris Rikkers is a great bedtime book for children who are younger and just learning about God. This book features short, stories that introduce children to Him, but the stories are not as in-depth as an actual Bible.

Unlike most Bible stories that you read to your children, The Spirit of God Illustrated Bible, shows a unique perspective and shares how God’s Spirit has worked since the very beginning.

One of my personal favorite things about this book, is the beautiful illustrations that are throughout the book. Fernando Juarez did a gorgeous job recreating scenes in the Bible. He literally illustrated every part of every page of this book and did amazing.

Overall, my kids and I liked this book and we probably enjoyed the pictures in it, more than other Bible stories.
