I remember when I was little, my parents had a slew of Berenstain Bear books and I used to spend hours reading them all. The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional by Mike Berenstain is the newest addition to the long line of Berenstain Bear books.
The Berenstain Bear books were introduced by Stan and Jan Berenstain in 1962. Since the passing of both Mike’s parents, Mike has taken over the Berenstain Bear series following in his parent’s footsteps.
The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional includes 90 devotions and has the same characters we have all came to know and love.
The Berenstain Bears Bedtime Devotional was a book I was looking forward to receiving. And, when it arrived, I couldn’t wait to break it open and check it out. To my surprise, this book is pretty tiny, about the size of a pocket bible.
Don’t let the size of this book fool you, this book is actually made really nicely. With a hardcover backing, a ribbon bookmark and a thicker pages, the Berenstain Bears Devotional is made to last through a lifetime of readings.
Upon opening the Berenstain Bear Bedtime Devotional, there is a page to put your child’s name along with the gifter’s name. I’ve always been a little iffy about writing in books, so I probably will never write on this page, but if I were giving this book as a gift, this page would be perfect for writing a nice sentiment.
The Bedtime Devotionals inside this book are short and to the point, which is sometimes much needed. Each devotional features a bible verse, a short story and a prayer written in the classic Berenstain Bear form. While my kids won’t learn the stories of the Bible, they are learning important life lessons.
In fact, just the other day, my oldest child was upset with his brother after he broke his toy, and I was able to bring this book out and teach him why he should be forgiving. This book will definitely be vital in my growing child’s life and I hope, he’ll grow into a better person because of it.
Although, it’s no longer the same authors writing Berenstain Bears, this book reads and looks exactly like the original ones I read growing up. In fact, this book makes me want to find my old Berenstain Bear books and read.
If you’re a fan of Berenstain Bears, than the Berenstain Bear Bedtime Devotional is a must, but don’t just take my word, check it out HERE.
