The first time I ever heard of the country singers Joey and Rory was years ago. They had just released their song, Cheater Cheater and my mother was obsessed. I can’t blame her, ’till this day I find myself reciting lyrics to that song,

cheater, cheater, where’d you meet her down at ernies bar? Did she smile your way twirl her hair and say how cute your dimples are?…

My family became lifetime fans of Joey and Rory from the very beginning, we loved how downhome and Christian they were. That’s why when Joey was diagnosed with cancer a few years ago, we never expected anything to happen to her. Joey’s death was emotional, I think on the whole world.

I often wonder about how Rory and their daughter are doing, but Rory is very open with the world on his blog, This Life I Live

When I saw Rory post about his new book, This Life I Live, I couldn’t wait to read it and get a glimpse of just a little bit of his life here with Joey.

This book is nothing like the ordinary books that I review. And, I probably took longer reviewing this one than most, but I am so glad I got the opportunity to read this book. Rory truly has the gift of writing and you can really tell the words came so easy to him while he was writing this book.

The way Rory writes the words in this book makes it feel as if Rory is actually talking to you and telling you the story of his life.

This Life I Live is a pure testimony to God. Rory talks, bluntly, about how God had a plan for him and how he’s living it. He even says that Joey told him this was the story he was born to write.

It is easy to see how much Joey and Rory loved each other and this book gives such a clear picture of their love. After losing Joey, Rory could have given up and sulked for his loss of Joey, but he didn’t. He stayed strong and made this beautiful testimony for his wife.

Whether you’ve heard of Joey & Rory or not, Rory Feek’s This Life I Live is a beautiful tribute to the love of his life, Joey. Through emotions and tears, I barely got through this book, but once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down.
