Let’s be real for a minute. Life as a parent can get hectic. We have so much going on with the kids that sometimes we forget about everyone else, including our spouses. After ten years of marriage and three kids, I know I sometimes treat Michael more like a commodity than a person. I take him for granted. Even though I love him, I forget to show him how much I really do care about him.
With Valentine’s coming up, it’s the perfect time to show your spouse how much you care about him and these simple acts of gratitude will do the trick.
How to Show Your Spouse You Care

Make Him Breakfast
I know he probably wakes up a zillion hours before you do, but that doesn’t mean you can’t pull breakfast off for him at least once, right? Our days go by so fast that one simple act of love can go a long way. Waking up early to make your spouse his favorite breakfast will completely show him that you still care and prove that he still means enough to you for you to go out of your way on something like an early morning breakfast.
Give Him a Break
I’ve been guilty of it before. I would spend all day watching the kids and want a break, that whenever Michael would walk in the door from work I would throw the kids at him and run. I didn’t even care if he was exhausted. I just worried about myself. I seriously did not even act like I cared about him. In those moments it was all about me. Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your spouse that you care by giving him that much-needed break that he deserves.
Let Him Sleep In
There have been many mornings when my husband had to wake up early for work and he let me sleep without even trying to wake me up. Unfortunately, I never seem to return the favor by giving him the chance to sleep in. That’s why Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to show your spouse you care by letting him sleep in. Not only will he feel better with a few extra hours of sleep, but he’ll realize he means enough to you for you to let him catch up on all the sleep he, so often, misses.
Give Him a Card to Show You Care
When Michael and I were dating we used to send each other these cutesy little notes, all the time. It was a small gesture that showed we cared and we both loved them. Now that we’ve been married with kids, I can’t remember the last time either of us actually sat down to write each other a note. That’s why this Valentine’s Day I am going to show Michael I still care with a Hallmark Paper Wonder Card and Hallmark Signature Card.
Hallmark Greeting Cards have always been my go-to greeting card brand. Their cards always have the right words to express my feelings and Hallmark always offers the most unique card designs. The pop-up Paper Wonder Cards even fold out to become a displayable valentine.
Hallmark has all the cards you need for Valentine’s Day and you can find great prices and selection at Walmart. I found my Hallmark Greeting Cards at my local Walmart near the front of the store, in the aisle beside the Valentine’s Day gifts.
