How to be More Productive

Ever since school let out for my little ones in June, I feel like I’ve been the least productive person on this earth. It’s been hard waking up and finding energy I need to do anything, so I decided I would come up with some tips on how to be more productive.

If you’re struggling with your productivity and feel like you are falling behind, get into gear with these brilliant productivity tips.

Wake up early – I know this is the part no one likes to hear, but if you don’t have enough time now, wake up earlier. I know it may sound tiring, but waking up even an hour earlier can give you that much more time to do something. For best productivity, I recommend waking up earlier than the kiddos.

Set a routine and follow it – Whenever people set a routine, they tend to follow it. Creating a routine doesn’t have to be extreme, it just has to be something you’re willing to do – everyday. Set a routine that allows you to get the most out of your day and plan for every second of it.

Get rid of all distractions while working – turn off Facebook, tv, etc… – Me and Facebook, we visit each other every chance we get, but that’s not productive. Turn off the distractions and get to work. Whenever you spend hours doing something like watching a television show or scrolling Facebook, you’re wasting valuable time you could be spending getting things done.

Treat your work like a job – As a blogger it is easy for me to treat my blog like a hobby, but that doesn’t help me when it comes to working on it. Treat everything you do like a job and give it 110%. If you hold yourself to no accountability, you won’t be very productive.

Have a clean workspace – Is it just me or does clutter stress you out? Whenever I see clutter, I can’t focus. Getting rid of clutter and maintaining a clean workspace can allow you to be more productive.

Doing things ahead of time = less stress – I’m terrible for waiting until last minute to do things, but waiting till last minute can be bad for productivity. Doing things sooner will mean less stress and a clear mind to be more productive.

Eat a good breakfast – It is true what they say, breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. If you’re eating a bowl of sugar, or skipping breakfast, you may be more prone to feeling sluggish and therefore less productive throughout the day.

Use a planner – I’m busier than I let myself think I am, so keeping tracks of dates in my head isn’t an option. Using a good planner allows you to keep track of dates, times, and important information. Keeping a planner will help you be more productive by keeping you from forgetting important meetings and appointments. I recommend a planner that has plenty of space in like THIS one from Amazon.

Leave time for the important things in life and work around them.  Being productive doesn’t mean you have to neglect your family and friends; you can still be productive and have a good family life – just be sure to plan your schedule around them.

Do you have any special tips or tricks on how to stay productive? I would love for you to share them in the comments below.

  1. I set deadlines, use schedules, write everything down, have a planner and… I DO NOT procrastinate!! I always plan when I am going to do X Y and Z so then I don’t stress about having “too much to do” and it works like a charm!

  2. Great tips Crystal!! I wake up early in the morning and use planner to be productive. And of course! breakfast is an important thing to start the day, cannot be productive with empty or unhealthy breakfast. Thank you for other tips.
