Easy Homemade Vegetarian Pepperoni Pizza Rolls from Scratch

If your family loves pizza night, they will love these delicious and savory easy homemade pepperoni pizza rolls. Made completely from scratch with vegetarian pepperoni from Field Roast.

What is a Pepperoni Roll?

I have been enjoying pepperoni rolls since I was a young girl, but until recently, I just found out pepperoni rolls aren’t something most people have heard of! To me, that sounds crazy! But if this is your first time ever hearing about a pepperoni roll, you’re in luck! Pepperoni rolls are pure deliciousness!

They are basically pizza in a doughy, delicious bread dough and they are so good. Pepperoni pizza rolls can be made with any type of ingredient you like, but since Michael and I are vegetarian we decided to use Field Roast Pepperoni in our rolls and it was delicious!

If you’re strapped for time, you can even make these pepperoni rolls with frozen bread dough from the supermarket. I just prefer making my own dough because it gives me more freedom to make the rolls to my liking.

While this recipe is my favorite simple bread dough recipe, you may have to double the ingredients depending on how many pepperoni rolls you want to make. This recipe usually gets me 10 decent-sized pepperoni rolls.

  5. Lightly flour your workplace surface.
  6. Break up dough into chunks big enough for all of your pizza roll ingredients.

Making the Pepperoni Pizza Rolls

Finally, once you have your dough ready, its time to make the pepperoni rolls. This can take a little time because you have to roll out the dough so I usually recruit the kids as helpers.

Easy Homemade Vegetarian Pepperoni Pizza Rolls from Scratch 14The best thing about pepperoni rolls is the fact that you can literally make them with anything. I’ve tried many varieties of them and I’ve even made them with turkey pepperoni and other pizza toppings. But no matter what ingredients I stuff inside these bad boys, my family loves them and they are lucky to last a day in my house. They are just that good!

For this particular pepperoni roll recipe, I decided to use easy ingredients so you could make them from scratch without too many issues.

You just need your favorite type of pepperoni, I used the Field Roast plant-based pepperoni (which is so good btw), mozzarella shredded cheese, and Delgrosso’s spaghetti sauce. You can use whatever brand of sauce you want to use or pizza sauce, but ever since we went to Delgrosso’s Amusement Park in Altoona I’ve been in love with Delgrosso’s sauces and they are the only brand I use.

If your family loves pizza night, they will love these delicious and savory easy homemade pepperoni pizza rolls. Made completely from scratch with vegetarian pepperoni from Field Roast.

Prep Time 45 minutes
Cook Time 30 minutes
Total Time 1 hour 15 minutes

Ingredients

  • Frozen Bread dough or homemade bread dough (see bread dough recipe above)
  • Field Roast plant-based pepperoni, or any pepperoni you would like
  • 2lbs mozzarella shredded cheese, can use more or less to your liking
  • 2 jars pizza/spaghetti sauce, again can use more or less depending on your liking

Instructions

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

On a flat, clean surface, roll out a chunk of dough into a square that is approximately 11x11 in size. Spread sauce across the dough and then add mozzarella cheese and pepperoni. Be careful not to over fill.

Close the pepporoni roll by pushing the sides over, just enough to close them and folding the other sides, opposite of each other, so they meet. Pinch closed ends together and place finished pepperoni roll on baking sheet.

Cook in the oven approximately 25-30 minutes or until dough is done.

As you may have noticed, I don’t like to roll my pepperoni rolls. I like to close them up by folding the smaller sides in and pinching the larger sides together. I think this makes the pepperoni pizza rolls have a better flavor and it doesn’t feel like you’re eating so much bread.
