Becky Thompson’s Unending Love Book Review

Becky Thompson's Unending Love Book Review

There’s this popular blog that I’ve been following for quite some time now, maybe you’ve heard of it too, Scissortail Silk? (Although, it’s now just Becky Thompson) In this blog, the lady, Becky documents her life and shares stories of God’s unending love.

Becky Thompson, truly has a way of writing of words that are somehow exactly what you need to hear. It’s through her endless love for God, that she was called upon to write her newest book, Love Unending.

Although, this is Becky’s second book, it was her first book that I’ve read, and too be honest I wasn’t sure if I would like it. I couldn’t get over the feeling that the book would be too preachy, or too much of something I didn’t need to hear. I’ve been happily married for years, why would I need a self-help course on marriage? My husband and I were perfectly fine.

Every day I woke up, this book seemed to stare at me, like I needed to pick it up. But, every day, I would use the excuse, that I just didn’t  have the time. Then, one day, I found myself sunken into a chair reading page after page, wondering why I put this book off for so long! This book is the book I didn’t know I needed.

In Love Unending, Becky doesn’t come off too preachy and she doesn’t even act like she’s better than anyone else. Instead, she shares stories that happened in her own life to allow the reader to reflect on them and make a change.

In fact, if you’ve ever watched the popular movie, Fireproof with Kirk Cameron, this book kind of resembles it. Each day, Becky gives the reader a challenge.  Maybe it’s something as simple as just choosing to hear your husband or something like treating every day like you’ve just been married. After giving the new challenge, Becky gives the reader a place to reflect and write out what happened, then she says a little prayer for the reader.

While I can’t say my marriage felt like it was in jeopardy before reading this book, I did find myself guilty of most the things Becky discussed in the book. With three kids in the house, I realized I often put them ahead of my husband. I no longer made him feel as important to me, although is.

Love Unending is a 21-day challenge. Although, I haven’t done all 21 days, I have been doing the challenges for a week and, already I can’t believe the change in my marriage.

Whether or not your having marriage problems, I think Becky Thompson’s Love Unending is a must-read.
