How to End the Failure Mindset and Let Yourself Succeed

2019 was the year I had officially called myself a failure. My blog was failing. My side hustle suddenly started to tank and I just couldn’t get it out of my mind that I was actually a failure.

No matter what I tried, I couldn’t get past the failure part of my life. In my mind, I was a failure. So, I did what most people do when they think they’re failing at something, I stopped.

I stopped putting any effort into my blog and my side hustle and let myself keep the mindset that I was a failure.

As the weeks went on, I lived like a failure and I was too upset to prove else wise. And, you what happened during those months, I made no money, I stopped applying for jobs and I put minimum effort into my businesses.

It wasn’t until months later when I finally felt like trying to improve my situation and you know what happened, things started to soar. I started making money again and my blog started to take back up.

All those months I called myself a failure, I was wrong. The only time I was actually a failure was the times I let my mind feel like a failure.

Sometimes in life, we may feel like a failure, but in reality, the only thing we’ve failed is letting our minds take over and stop us from succeeding.

How to End the Failure Mindset

Ending the Failure Mindset

Stop Comparing Yourself to Others

One of the worst things you can do in a business or any other part of life is compare yourself to others. When I started this blog, there were bloggers who hit 10k Instagram followers overnight, meanwhile I stayed stuck at 4k. For me, 4k followers was actually a lot of followers, but I never let it feel like it was good enough because in my mind, I was a failure.

Whenever I stopped comparing myself to others, I found more gratitude for my strides and realized what I was making happening and I felt less like a failure.

Stop Holding Yourself Back

Robert Kennedy once said, only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly… Think about that for a minute. Without trying, you can never succeed.

For so long, I had held myself back, afraid of failure. I was so afraid of failure that I didn’t realize I was actually letting myself fail. It wasn’t until I stopped worrying about everyone else and what someone might say that I finally started to feel like I was succeeding.

Ending the failure mindset may feel impossible, but it all starts with your mind. If you think like winner, you will be a winner. Think like a loser and you are a loser.

Believe in Yourself

You know how when you’re teaching your kids to ride a bike you encourage them and tell them, they can do it. Even though we aren’t sure that they are ready to and can, we still cheer them on because we believe in them. When you’re dealing with the failure mindset, you have to believe in yourself because no one will be there cheering you on.

You have to know what you want and you have to go for it. Just like that kid riding the bike, believe in yourself and great things can happen.

Start Back Over and Accept Failure

Sometimes you actually do fail. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t get back up and try again. Almost every success story has a failure story.

Just look at Steve Jobs, the founder of billion-dollar company, Apple. He failed his company, NeXT computer company. Had he let that failure ruin his thinking. we would probably never had a device as big as Apple. Colonel Harland Sanders had a life of poverty, he dropped out of school in the 6th grade and it wasn’t until he was on social security that he finally succeeded with his KFC franchise.

While there are hundreds of other stories just like these ones, the biggest thing you have to realize is you can’t let failure define you.

I hope 2020 can still be your year of great success and I hope you finally end the failure mindset and break free. You can do great things!
