Looking for a great gift that doesn’t involve flowers this Valentine’s Day? I got you covered! Today I’m sharing 5 better alternatives to those overpriced vase flowers. And, she’ll love them 100% more, you’re welcome! 😉

I have a bit of confession, I have banned Michael from ever buying me flowers. And, before you think – she’s crazy, let me explain. I love flowers. In fact, I plant flowers in our yard every spring. We even take the time to enjoy flowers while we are out in nature. But, here’s the thing, Michael and I have had our share of struggles with money in the past.
And, one thing I’ve always thought when Michael went out and bought flowers during those times is, why didn’t you actually buy me something more practical or something that I wanted. After all, flowers are know to cost a lot and they only last for like a week before you’re throwing them in the trash.
While it might sound like I am being ungrateful or unreasonable, here 10 Valentine’s Day gifts that are better than flowers that I love and Michael loves buying for me.
5 Better Alternatives to Flowers this Valentine’s Day
Trees
The number 1 item on my list of Valentine’s Day items that are better than flowers are trees! Trees are practically the BEST item you can purchase her for V-Day and if you’re wanting to be cheesy, you can attach a card that says, let’s watch our love grow. Ha! See what I did there?
But seriously, trees are the perfect alternative to flowers because you can plant them and they can quickly become a staple in any yard. And, who doesn’t love telling stories about their yards?
Perennial Plants
Not ready to commit to a tree, or have too many? Then Perennials are the way to go. These plants come back every year, so she can enjoy them for the years to come and, there’s so many different types that she’s sure to have her favorites. But if you need some help deciding, may I personally recommend the tulip?
Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate
Okay, seriously, you can NEVER go wrong with buying a women chocolate. I personally vouch for anything Hershey’s but you can always opt for the more expensive Lindt chocolate hearts on Amazon this year. Either way, I am sure she will love it.
A Good Movie & Cozy Pj’s
I personally hate the cliche of Valentine’s Day. I mean we all know why men are buying those big fancy gifts. But nothing is more attractive than a man who’s willing to put her needs and wants first. That’s why gifting her new, warm pj’s and planning a night in to cuddle to a good romantic movie, is something I know she will love. Cut the cliche and I am sure it will pay off in the end.
A Prepared Dinner & Cleanup
Nothing screams romantic quite as loud as a man who plans diner and cleanup. And, no I don’t mean taking her to some overcrowded restaurant that is too busy to give you the service you deserve. I mean a home cooked meal, dessert, and cleanup all by you! Don’t bug her with the details, but be sure to plan ahead. And, if you need help, Pinterest is the cookbook of 2022! 😜
While I know every women is different, I do hope these alternatives to flowers on Valentine’s Day gets you thinking and helps you plan a V-day that wow her.

Give me all the chocolate. Just make it vegan so I can enjoy it.
I am all about a good movie and pajamas! We’ll be staying at home. It’s too crowded on Valentine’s Day.
I really enjoyed this post, thanks for sharing these alternatives.
A good movie and cozy PJ’s sound perfect to me! But I’d definitely choose horror movies, haha. :)
I love it when my husband cooks and cleans for me on Valentine’s Day. I’ll take that over flowers!
Great ideas! I like that flowers don’t add weight to my belly. Ha!
Such a great article and a list of alternatives to the traditional flower thing in Valentine. Definitely a great idea to consider and logical sense of being practical.
I do not mind flowers, but I do understand about something that would be more lasting. Long ago people would press their flowers in books. (sounds kind of funny now a days). I do like your ideas of planting a tree, and the chocolates!

Wow! This is such a really great and perfect article to read. We are gonna have a movie night and a simple dinner in our house.
I love all these ideas. I would much rather have any of those as well. I love flowers, but they die to quickly.
If we lived in a warmer area, I’d be thrilled to get a tree or perennials too. Lately, the only thing I really want is houseplants and cool pots to put them in. But, I never say no to chocolate!
I love flowers! But I also love plants anche chocolate! :)
I do like having alternatives to flowers for Valentine’s Day. I would love more than anything to have to not think about dinner or prep or cleaning!!!
I agree with all of these. I love receiving flowers, but I would love to have all of these, too.
